RKM Hospital Sohra

Along with rendering our best services in the field of Education we are also trying our best to serve the poor and deprived tribal families in the field of health care through our charitable Hospital. It serves the poor and needy people of Sohra and its surrounding villages by providing different services including Allopathy, Homeopathy, Physiotherapy, Dental, Eye, Pathology, USG, ECG, X-ray, Dialysis, Emergency, etc., Operation Theatre for general surgeries are newly upgraded services provided by the Mission. This is the 30 bedded hospital for now. At present, the Hospital open with two shifts i.e. Morning Shift (8.30 am to 2.00 pm) and Evening Shift (4.00 pm to 7.00 pm) every day, except on Sunday. Emergency Services is available on Sunday. The Dialysis Unit was inaugurated on, the 30th April, 2022, at 12.00 Noon. Dr. Tonmoy Das, Chief Nephrologist & former Exec. Dir. Apollo Hospitals Guwahati inaugurated the Dialysis Unit. Dr. R S Thangkhiew, Director, Supercare Hospital, Shillong, inaugurated the RO unit. Three special guests viz., 1) Dr. Manjuri Sharma, Prof. & HoD, Dept. of Nephrology, GMCH, Guwahati, 2) Dr Bhabesh Kr Das, Prof. & HoD, Dept. of Surgical Oncology, State Cancer Institute, GMCH, Guwahati and 3) Dr. Kyntiewlang Sanmiet, Nephrologist, Bethany Hospital Shillong graced the occasion. A large number of well-wishers attended the function. Counselling Sessions is also available for patients with different mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, stress and people with struggling with alcoholism and other types of additions provided by Psychology and Counselling Expert. Students of different feeder schools is also being provided with Counselling sessions once or twice a month or whenever it is required. Apart from this, we have a Nutrition and Dietetics Department where a dietitian looks after the nutritional status of the patient and gives them counselling based on their diseased condition and helps them to make informed food choices. Occasionally, the dietitian would also go for school visits to spread nutritional awareness to students in the area.

Jalaphet Dispensary

With the aim of empowering people to have good health, The Sohra Charitable Hospital have now expanded its wings by upgrading one Dispensary at Nangbah, West Jaintia Hills District. The Dispensary was inaugurated on the 30th June, 2021 by Br. Ishtachainaya, under the leadership of Mr. Manbha Lyngdoh who looks and maintained the works at Jaintia Hills. The other members involve, Dr. P. Dewan (Eye Specialist), Bah Phasstarwell San Lyngdoh, Biswajit Chakraborty (Supervisor), Mr. Lakhon Biam (MDC), Mr. Rollingson Dkhar (Jalaphet Bri Sutnga Headman) and Mr. Tonroi Iongwai (Nangbah Headman) who has contributed towards the smooth functioning and has strengthen the service as it is. Later, the dispensary was shifted to Jalaphet, Bri-Sumer, East Jaintia Hills, and it was inaugurated on the 19th November, 2022 by our Secretary Maharaj, Swami Anuragananda. On this auspicious day, the elder of the Village Dorbar the Headmen Shri. Bukstar Syrti and the Secretary of the Village Shri R. Chyrmang and many other headmens from other villages have witness this day as a remarkable day to the society as a whole. The MDC of the Jalaphet, Mr. Krison Langstang, showed his immense gratitude to the Mission for its services provided to the people especially for the poor and the needy. Jalaphet Bri Sumer Village with its nearby villages around 14 to 20 villages come under the Saipung Block East Jaintia Hills which are mostly uneducated and poor villages come under below the poverty line. Many people of this area get great help in the field of medical support like medicine and other health facilities. Jalaphet Dispensary that have started at the locality of Jalaphet namely Lumlakba Community Hall with four rooms and one toilet. This unit provides treatment and medicines among the populace of the localities as well as the students through the following units and Depts. Viz. Allopathy and Homeopathy. The service is regularly supervised by two experienced Doctors and one para-medical Staff.

Mobile Dispensary

The RKM Charitable Hospital, Sohra has been serving the needy by conducting various medical activities in the rural areas in a Medical Van. The Hospital runs two Mobile Medical Units (Unit I & Unit II) going on daily basis (except on Thursday and Sunday) to different villages of Laitlyndop, Mawkma, Mawmihthied, Laitmawsiang, Mawlyndiar, Mawrah, Swer, Laitkroh, Dewlieh, Lummawkong, Mawjrong, Pynursla, Umthli, Mawlam, Lyndem, Laitlyngkot (Iew Area and School), Wahtyngai, Mawkynring, Majai, Dharambasti, Kalibari, etc. In addition to this, doctors, nurses and any other medical essentials are sent from Mission to Sohbar Hostel if required. Special Camp

Medical Camps are conducted by the Mission to carry out a limited health intervention amongst the underprivileged community. People attend these camps to get free check-up and treatment. Free Medical camps are set up with a sacred aim to bring awareness amongst the deprived population of the society who have no access to basic healthcare services or knowledge about the diseases they are suffering from. So, Medical camps provide free medical advice, medicines to the unfortunate people and refer for specialized treatment whenever it is required. These camps make sure people are getting the healthcare at the right time, and seeing the doctor early enough before a small health problem turns serious. Basically, the aim of providing these Special camps includes propagation of health care facility in the given locality, promotion of health care, early screening and detection of diseases, reaching the unreached community population and awareness of various diseases. Specialist doctors in various disciplines attended these Free Medical Camps and treated the people suffering from various ailments. Special Health Awareness Camps are also being conducted with the help of expert medical practitioners.
